Police Arrest Kabarole Man for Overturning and Robbing Trailer

Police in Kabarole have arrested a man suspected to be part of a gang of criminals involved in overturning and robbing goods trucks. Happy Patrick, a Baker from Kibiito trading Center, was found with boxes of cooking oil, sugar and iron sheets suspected to have been robbed from a truck that overturned on Fortportal Kasese road.

The truck registration number U04 BA 941 lost control on a steep slope at Kasonganyanja, 35 kilometers from Fortportal. Elly Maate, the western region police spokesman says robbers used dried cow-peas spread on the road to force the truck down the escarpment.

The thugs used axes to cut open the container and robbed all the 55tones of goods. Police have recovered 39 tones of goods that were hidden in a nearby bush and are appealing for help to identify the other suspects involved in the crime.
