NDA Preliminary Tests, Clear Malaria Drug

News
Preliminary tests carried out on Malaria drugs suspected to have caused the death of one person and left another in a critical condition in Jinja indicate that the medicine was fine.
Boniface Ojade died on Tuesday while Samuel Mukisa is battling for his life at Jinja referral hospital after taking the Malaria drug. The outer skin of both victims peeled off leading to loss of body fluids that resulted in Ojede's death.
But Zaidi Mwondha, the South Eastern region drug inspector says that the drugs were supplied by an authorized manufacturer, cleared by NDA and hadn't expired.
He says that the drugs will be taken for further examination at the National Drug Authority Laboratory, to establish why they caused a severe reaction among the two patients.

Mabel Namaganda the nursing Assistant who is treating Mukisa says that both patients had a poor history of drug usage because they were no records stating which drugs they have been using for treatment.
She says that Mukisa's body is no longer responding to anti biotic which were being used to treat him.
