The Uganda People's Congress, President, Mama Miria Kalule Obote has extended a hand of friendship and reconciliation to her husbands arch enemy, President Yoweri Museveni.
In a new year message, Mrs Obote who took over the mantle of the UPC following the death of her husband in October last year said the hand of friendship was being exetended to "President Yoweri Museveni and all those who have wronged us including the NRM.i
Miria, the only woman in the Presidential race also called for forgiveness from all who feel aggrieved because of the actions of the government or members of UPC.
She mentions the Kabaka of Buganda and the Buganda Kingdom establishment, which nurses a deep rooted hatred for the UPC and the late Obote.
Miria called for a peaceful and violent free campaign ahead of the elections on 23rd February.
She warned the government to irefrain from creating any conditions that would force people to go to the bush drawing parallels from the main reason that forced Museveni to wage a guerrilla war in 1981 that forced the late Obote out of power in 1985.
