Moyo District Council has been criticized for blocking funding to Obongi community center and the purchase of a printing press for the district.
Funding for the two projects was floated by Hassan Kaps Fungaroo the Obongi county MP and the Moyo district Woman MP Ann Auru.
However, it is alleged that members of the district council blocked the projects fearing that implementing the projects would give the legislators an upper hand ahead of the 2011 elections.
News of blocking the two projects has drawn criticism from some residents, who are accusing the district council of sabotaging development.
Opia Florence, the Moyo town council secretary for gender and social development says she is disappointed with the district council for rejecting the projects.
Opia has called on the council to reverse their decision so that people of Obongi can also benefit from government programs.

Attempts to get a comment from Peter Iku Dolo, the Moyo district LC V chairperson were unsuccessful as he was reported to be busy, when URN visited his office.
Obongi County, the most remote part of Moyo district with road links cut off. It has had a long running feud with the district leadership over poor service delivery in the area.
The latest rejection of funding for projects in the county by the council has only added on the belief that the county is deliberately marginalized.
Last year, Obongi County applied for an independent district status which to date has not been granted.
