The management committee of Pabbo primary school in Amuru district has accused ACTED an international NGO, of shoddy work.
ACTED has been involved in the rehabilitation of a classroom block at the school.
The committee has written a protest letter to the district authorities expressing their dissatisfaction with the renovation work done on the classroom block
Mathias Kitara, the school's management committee chairman, claims that the roofing was poorly done, exposing the lives of pupils in danger, should a strong wind strike.
He also said the floor was poorly plastered, adding that just a slight scratch could send the top layer crumbling.
Kitara visited the school and complianed to the workers about the shoddy work, but he says his concerns were simply ignored.
Gilbert Olanya, the Amuru district secretary for education and health, says he visited the school and confirmed the poor workmanship.
The renovation work cost ACTED more than 50 million shillings and the classroom was handed over to the district last week. witnessed among others by the LCV chairman Amuru Omach Anthony.
But Renaud De Calan, the program Manager ACTED northern region, says he is convinced this was a job well done, because ACTED and district engineers inspected and approved it.
Some engineers have however recently came under criticism from the district leadership for approving substandard and shoddy work.
Early this year, several buildings whose construction was being supervised by qualified engineers collapsed in Kampala killing more than 10 people.
