Vincent Ssogo, a resident of Lwabenge village in Masaka district has been arrested for killing his 8-year-old son for stealing food.
Vincent Ssogo is alleged to have beaten and starved the 8-year-old Ssogo Junior and before locking him up in the house for two days leading to his death.
He reportedly accused the boy of stealing soup and food. Residents attribute the brutal act to Ssogo's drunkardness.
They claim Ssogo is an alcoholic who has for so long engaged in bloody fights under the influence of alcohol.
Vincent Mugera the LC 1 chairperson Lwabenge village, tried in vain to rescue the boy before he died, but the help came a little too late.
Ssogo was picked up by Police and is now being held at Masaka Police stations.
Andrew James the OC Lwabenge police post, says that the single father who has been mistreating his son used big sticks to punish the minor, which resulted to his death.
Southern Region Police Spokesperson Noah Serunjogi confirmed the arrest saying the brutal act against Junior was unfortunate.
Serunjogi says Ssogo would be charged with murder. He says investigations into the case have started.
