Charles Kiwalabye, a road construction worker with the Road Construction Company has been killed by an explosion.
The incident occurred this morning at Kanyareeru village, in Lyantonde along the Masaka- Mabarara highway
Kiwalabye was using the explosion to crack rocks when he met his death.
His Workmates say Kiwalabye was sliced in two pieces by a sharp stone, which found him where he had taken cover.
Witnesses say the deceased was ducking beneath Kanyabyeru rock when it exploded and injured him badly.
Amos Mulisa, the spokesperson of RCC Construction Company, says that the death of Kiwalabye, brings to five the number of RCC staff killed this year under similar circumstances.
Muliisa says that Kiwalabye has been experienced in rock crushing but can not explain what happened today.
He says that the death of Kiwalabye has stalled work as most of the staffs have not yet got over the trauma.
Kiwalabye's body was collected by the police and taken to his family at Mpaama in Kooki County for burial.
RCC Company was contracted to rebuild the Masaka-Mbarara highway but has its base in Lyantonde District.
