Ben Kulaba, the senior assistant town clerk of Jinja municipal council is in trouble.
18 Councilors of Central Division have moved a vote of no confidence in the town clerk and want him removed from office.
The councilors, led by Central Division LC 3 chairperson Mubaraka Kirunda are accusing Kulaba of abuse of office and causing council a financial loss of 500 million shillings.
In their petition to Jofram Waidhuba the Jinja town clerk, the councilors are accusing Kulaba of failing to implementing council resolutions.
The councilors claim that Kulaba refused to re-assess the Jinja source of the Nile before it was privatized as resolved by council, leading to a loss of 250 million shillings.
They also accuse Kulaba of failing to fence off Uganda Railways primary school and construct a public toilet at Hajji Tarmac road yet money was allocated for the projects, last year.
Jofram Waidhuba has given the embattled senior town clerk up to Wednesday next to put his defense in writing. Waidhumba has threatened to interdict Kulaba unless he explains himself.
Central Division speaker Andrew Kasigwa says council will not convene until Kulaba accounts for his actions. But some of the councilors are opposed to the methods being used to push Kulaba from office.
Councilor Meddy Mbentyo says a commission of inquiry should be set up to probe the Kulaba.
