Henry Balikoowa, the Budiope County Member of parliament in Kamuli has died.
Balikoowa died last night after crashing into a sugar cane truck belonging to Mehta sugar company in Mabira forest, while traveling to Jinja.
Alex Kimuli, a taxi driver who witnessed the accident says that the MP died instantly after crashing.
Police Spokeswoman Judith Nabakooba attributes the accident on the poor condition of the sugar cane truck.
She says that track had no lights and proper braking system.
Nabakooba says that the driver of the sugarcane truck Emmanuel Mambo is at large.
The body of the MP is now at Mulago hospital.
