Police accused of Torturing Suspect to Death

Police in Moyo is being accused of torturing to death a prime suspect in the theft of three guns from Ndirindiri police post in Obongi County.
Ramadhan Taban who was arrested by Police died on Saturday night in detention at Moyo Central Police Station.
Taban's relatives have rejected his body demanding that his tormentors be arrested for causing his death.
Abdul Bunia says that he saw investigators kick his brother when they went to his home to recover the stolen guns.
Bunia says that they are suspicious of Taban's death because he didn't complain of any illness before he was arrested.
He says they will petition the Uganda Human Rights Commission unless those behind his brother's death are arrested.
Patrick Otika, the regional police commander for northwestern region says they are investigation the incident.

Anthony Ojok, the Moyo District Police Commander has declined to commend on the death suspect saying they are all under investigations. This is the first time a suspect has died in police custody in Moyo district.
