Several police officers at Kiboga Central Police Station, have fled into hiding, following the arrest of top police officers in the district.
The cops currently on the run include mainly those that have been conducting night patrols.
The Cops who were vibily panic stricken, decided to flee shortly after Major General Kale Kayihura, the Inspector General of Police ordered the arrest of six police officers.
George Kawuka the acting Kiboga District Police Commander, the OC CID Okidi and Livingstone Ojuku and three others were arrested over the weekend.
The arrests on the orders of the inspector general of police, stem from public complaints about the unproffesional conduct of police officers in Kiboga.
The police in Kiboga have been accused of corruption, extortion, torture and running illegal detention cells.
Kaihura directed the Police Professional Standards Unit, to investigate the remaining officers for disciplinary action.
It is this directive that has pushed several cops into hiding for fear of being arrested.
Noah Kamisa, the newly appointed acting Kiboga District Police Commander, says a team of officers from the Police Professional Standards Unit is already investigating the officers.
He says that all implicated officers will be hunted down and arrested for prosecution.
Kamisa says 30 new cops have been deployed to replace the team that has been operating at Kiboga Central Police Station.
