Bunyoro Tobacco Growers' Cooperative society is planning to sue Uganda Leaf Tobacco Limited for breaching a partnership agreement.
Amos Bagadira, the production manager of Bunyoro Tobacco growers' cooperative society explains that in December last year they agreed to work with Uganda Leaf Tobacco Limited to promote tobacco growing in the area.
He explains that as they were organizing to sign a memorandum Uganda Leaf Tobacco Limited sidelined the cooperative and started working with individual farmers.
Bagadira says since last year, Uganda leaf tobacco limited has bought 180 tons of tobacco from their farmers.

He says they had spent lots of resources and time mobilizing farmers to embrace Uganda Leaf tobacco limited.
The General Manager of Uganda leaf tobacco limited could not be reached, but Fredrick Kasozi, the Masindi cooperatives and marketing officer, says the company severed ties because they discovered that Bunyoro Tobacco growers' cooperative society was dormant.
He says the society did not even posses a certificate of registration, claiming that it had been misplaced. Bagadira however says Kasozi is one of those who failed their deal. He accuses of working with the tobacco firm instead of the cooperatives.
