Over forty passengers traveling to Adjumani on a bus belonging to Zawadi Transport Company have survived death in an accident at Minakulu, 20 kilometers from Gulu town.
The accident occurred today afternoon when the front tyres of the bus burst forcing the bus to swerve off the road before overturning.
Johnson Kilama, the Northern Region police spokesperson says that apart from one woman passenger who sustained minor injuries, the rest of escaped unhurt.
Kilama says that the injured passenger was rushed to Independent hospital in Gulu town for treatment.
Sophia Aziku, one of the passengers says that all she remembers is bang.
She says the front tyre on the driver's side was the first to burst before the remaining tyre also burst making it difficult for the driver to maintain the bus on the road.
