Herman Sentongo, the LC V chairman of Sembabule district is in trouble.
Councilors at the district are threatening to censure Sentongo for absconding from duty for the past 8 months.
The councilors claim that Sentongo neither attends council meetings nor supervises district program. Julius Sebugwawo, the Sembabule district council speaker says that it is illegal for the chairman to stay out of office without any explanation.
He says that the absence of Sentongo from office contravene sections of the local government. Sebugwawo says that the absence of Sentongo from office has stalled several district programs.
Sebugwawo says that it has become difficult for councilors to transact council business in Sembabule.
Betty Twine, the woman councilor representing Lwebitakuli sub-county says that they are planning to censure Sentongo from office.
Robert Twesigye, the Chief Administrative Officer of Sembabule confirms that the absence of the chairman is affecting district activities.
He says that Sentongo, as the district executive committee chairperson is supposed to provide an agenda for council meetings.
Twesigye says that none of the district budgets can be passed without a resolution from the council.
Herman Sentongo says the councilor's plan is aimed at tarnishing his name.
He accuses the majority NRM councilors and resident district Commissioner of frustrating his plans to serve the electorate. Sentongo also denies that he has abandoned his office saying that he has been spending most of his time in the field.
On July 20th last year, Seruwano Kabogorwa, Sembabule Resident District Commission wrote to Sentongo complaining about his absence from office.
