One person was killed and seven others injured by lightening in Buhara sub county of Kabale district.
Rose Kachakara was struck dead yesterday evening inside a grass thatched where she, and her friends had sought shelter when it started raining.
Joseph Baryamujara, the LC III chairman of Buhara Sub County says that Kachakara and the other victim were digging on Butare hill when it started raining.
He says that the women decided to enter a nearby hut for shelter.
Baryamujara says that the no had the women entered into the house that lightening struck the hut.
John Tirwakunda, a resident of the area says that this is not the first incident when people working on Butare hill are struck by lightening.
He says after every two years, at least someone is struck by lightening on Butare hills between January and February.
Joseph Baryamujara, the LC III has warned residents not associate the lightening with superstitution.
He told mourners yesterday at Kachakara's burial that lightening could happen anywhere in the world.
He appealed to residents not to desist from cultivating their gardens on Butare hills.
