Andrew Mutesasira, the Pader District Police Commander, has been suspended for alleged indiscipline.
Martin Amoru, the Northern Regional Police Commander, says the DPC was suspended on Friday, but refused to disclose the details of the suspension.
But speaking on condition of anonymity, a police officer attached to Pader police post said the DPC's suspension stems from a vehicle which disappeared from Pader Police Station about one year ago.
The vehicle under contention was a tipper lorry, which was towed to Pader police station, following an accident. A year after the incident, the vehicle went missing from the police station.
The vehicle owner however managed to trace it in Kampala with all its documents changed.
Amoru has ordered an investigation into the DPC's alleged indiscipline.
Francisco Chaka, the Officer in charge of Pader police station has been appointed the acting DPC.
