Lango Paramount Chief Petitions FUFA to Lift Ban on Lango Sports Ground

News
Football fans in Lira have petitioned the local Football governing body FUFA- to lift the ban on Lango Sports ground.

The fans want the Federation of Uganda Football Association-FUFA to reinstate all the matches of Boroboro FC at Lango Sports ground.

Last month FUFA banned Boroboro FC from hosting all its super league games at Lango Sports Ground as a result of hooliganism from the fans.

FUFA ordered Boroboro FC to play all its matches in Wakiso district. However, the ban has since drawn outrage from both the fans and managers of Boroboro FC.

Yossam Odur, Lango paramount chief has written to FUFA on behalf of the fans to revoke the ban on Lango sports ground.

Odur wants FUFA to consider alternative disciplinary action instead of banning Boroboro FC from hosting matches.

Odur says football is an important recreational activity, which unites many people in the region. The paramount chief has also offered to pay a fine of a million shillings on behalf of Boroboro FC should Fufa find it fitting.

The appeal follows a similar one by the club officials who said the ban had affected their fan and financial base. The club relies mainly on gate collection from fans to finance its operations.

Moses Magogo, the FUFA Competition committee secretary says that a meeting has been called on March 13th to review the decision on Boroboro FC.
