Politics
Floods triggered by heavy rains have cut off three major roads in Tororo living several residents stranded.

The affected roads are Paya-Butaleja road, Merikit- Kidoko and Merikit-Nyem road in Merikit Sub County.

As a result of the road destruction members of the business community are finding it difficult to transact business. Robert Okello, Tororo district Engineer explains that Merikit-Kodoko road that was destroyed was due for construction.

He also says that NIYO Constructions which won the tender to construct Merikit- Nyem road abandoned the road at the swamp, where it has been washed away.

Okello says that the district engineering department is decide what action to take against the contractor. Peter Owolo, a resident of Merikit accuses government of neglecting their area.

Emmanuel Osuna, the LC V chairman of Tororo has recommended the termination of contracts all contractors who are behind schedule.

But Eva Musenero, the acting chief Administrative says that terminating the contract puts the district at risk of loosing road funding because the companies were hired by government.
