Mugisha Muntu Changes Campaign Strategy in Bunyoro

Politics
Mugisha Muntu, the former Army Commander, ended his tour of the Bunyoro region over the weekend with a call for change in the presidential and national leadership of Uganda.

Muntu is on a countrywide campaign to unseat Kizza Besigye as president of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). However he, like Besigye, is using the tour to solicit support to defeat President Yoweri Museveni in the 2011 polls.

Addressing a large crowd in Masindi over the weekend, Muntu accused Museveni's government of embezzling 500 million dollars in public funds every year. He said that after a quarter of a century in power, Museveni has failed to rein in the corrupt and has created conflicts in every region of Uganda.

According to Muntu, Museveni is a micro-manager afraid of losing control.

Mugisha Muntu urged Bunyoro not to vote for the National Resistance Movement or its leader, Yoweri Museveni. He said he was depending on the youth, who make up about 65 percent of the voters in the region, to vote for change.
