The driver of the taxi that rammed into a taxi in Jinja killing two pupils faces murder charges.
Zaidi Wokorwa, will be charged with the murder of Jackie Nabuduwa and Zahara Namuganza. The two pupils of Victoria Nile primary school in Jinja were killed when Wokorwa's vehicle rammed into the taxi that was taking them to school.
Three other pupils- Juma Mulutu a 4 –year old baby class pupil, Emmanuel Lasu and Namufuta Pauline died shortly after admission at Jinja main hospital. Several pupils suffered broken limbs.
The accident occurred at milo-mbiri just opposite the Local assemblies of Christ church in jinja municipality.
Helen Opolot, the south Eastern police traffic officer, says Wokorwa was found to be drunk and was arrested immediately. A case file has been opened and Wokorwa will appear in court shortly.
Meanwhile reports from Jinja indicate that eight out the twenty-six injured students have been transferred to Mulago intensive care unit, after their conditions worsened this morning.
Dr Dean Ahimbisibwe, a senior surgeon at the Jinja referral hospital, says the other injured students are in stable condition.
