A retention wall which was under construction at a building site along Karegyesa road in Rukungiri town council has collapsed, killing one person and injuring two others.
The dead has been identified as Onesmus Rwamishango, a resident of Kyatoko village in Kagunga Sub County.
Arinaitwe Tinamushagamu, the owner of the building and Boaz Ahimbisibwe, a builder are nursing bruises.
Julius Salube, the Rukungiri District Police Commander says that the men were preparing a foundation for the retention wall when the soil caved in killing Onesmus.
Salube attributes the accident to lack of supervision by technical personnel.
He says police is yet to establish from Merina Kekijo, Rukungiri town engineer whether the building plan was approved and the qualification of the builders.
Salube says that Modern Mukasa, the foreman of the ill fated building has been arrested to help police with investigations.

Kekijo says that he still doesn't not understand why the soil caved since there is no rain in the area.
