Social networks are fast becoming the easiest way to reach out to various people across the World.
Social networks can be a good way to make connections with people with similar interests and goals because it is cheaper and convenient compared to other forms of communication.
Several Ugandans, especially youths have signed in on to social networks like Twitters, Face book, You Tube, My Space and Skype to connect with friends and relatives amongst other people.
Local artists like Moses Ssali a.k.a Bebe Cool, Richard Kawesa and Desire Luzinda amongst others use face book to promote their shows, new songs and connect with their fans.
Despite its potential, several politicians in Uganda are ignorant on the use and potential benefit of social networks.
Frank Tumwebaze, the Member of Parliament for Kamwenge County says that he has heard of Face book but doesn't know how it works.
Tumwebaze believes that many Ugandans are ignorant of social networks.

Christopher Kibanzanga, Busongora County MP says that he cannot use social networks because his electorates don't even know how to use a computer.
Kibanzanga says he prefers to reach his voters in person.

Johnson Nkuuhe, the former MP of Isingiro was an ardent advocate of using ICT in parliament.
Nkuuhe says that the adoption of Information Communication Technology would be an added advantage to politics.
He however says that the biggest challenge to the using social networks is the limited reach of internet connectivity.
Nkuuhe believes that using social networks which are easily accessible by mobile phones would reap benefits.

General Mugisha Muntu, the FDC organizing secretary recently used Face book to fundraise and campaign for the FDC presidency.
On his face book page, Mugisha Muntu states his vision and also appeals for campaign funds from his supporters.
Mugisha Muntu says that he received over 5000 responses and more are still coming.
Muntu believes the social networks are useful because it helps to reach out to young voters.
He says that social networks are likely to grow since the 65 percent of the Ugandan voter are young.
