A 20-year-old woman accused of stealing a 3-month old baby in Hoima has been arrested.
Romeo Ojara, the acting Hoima District Police Commander identifies the suspect as Alice Nalubega, a resident of Kihande in Masindi town council.
Ojara says that Nalubega stole Robert Ayesiga from his mother Jennifer Mbabazi on Saturday evening at a wedding in Kihemba village in Buhanika Sub County in Hoima.
He says that Nalubega disappeared with the toddler when Mbabazi entrusted her with his son.
Ojara says that Nalubega was arrested yesterday afternoon from Kisenyi village in Buhimba Sub County in Hoima by the parents of the baby with the help of her relatives.
Robert Sunday, the father to Ayesiga says that Nalubega's relatives became suspicious because of the endless cries of the toddler.
He says that the concerned relatives called Hoima over the matter prompting them to trace for Nalubega in Masindi.
Sunday says that he is relieved that his son is alive because he feared that his son had fallen victim to ritual murder.
In her statement to Police Nalubega confesses to stealing the child. Nalubega says that he wanted to adopt the toddler and had no intentions of killing the minor.
Ojara says that Nalubega will be subjected to a mental check up before he she is charged with child theft.
