Mbale candidates Cry Out to UNEB

News
The cancellation of several Examination Centers by the Uganda National Examinations Boards –UNEB has thrown students in candidate classes and their parents into confusion.

Early this week, UNEB cancelled sixty examination centers countrywide because of failing to meet the required minimum standards of having fully equipped laboratories and qualified graduate head teachers.

In Mbale, the news of the closure has been received with shock by both students and parents.

Some of the affected students say that they may be forced to drop out of school since they cannot afford to raise money for fresh registration.

They also fault UNEB for carrying out the exercise after registration has taken place.

Samuel Mugoya, the Head Boy of Masaba High School a victim himself says the move is going to affect mostly students from poor families who cannot afford to change to other centers.

// Cue in: "This is the school..."
Cue out "...to begin from" //

Daniel Mugoya an ‘o' level candidate in Masaba High School says changing to another examination center is a burden that they cannot afford.

// Cue in: "We are many..."
Cue out "...who are now" //

Robert Mugombe a parent wonders what the fate of the students who are registered in the affected centers will be.

// Cue in: "I have heard..."
Cue out "...then how are we going to be helped" //

But some of the affected schools say they are putting in place the requirements for reopening the centers.

Michael Edumu, the proprietor of Maluku Secondary School says he has since appointed a full time graduate head teacher a requirement that had made the center to be closed.

The closure has affected more than 800 candidates in Mbale alone.
