Five siblings – three brothers and two sisters have been arrested in Kabale for their alleged involvement in the murder of their father.
65-year-old Musa Rugogama, of Rukashanda village in Kabale's Kyanamira Sub County was found dead at his home on Sunday.
Preliminary investigations show that the old man was murdered by his two sons- Adam Rutatina and Paul Rutashikwa.
The brothers have for some time been embroiled in a land brawl with their father. The brawl reached its climax after the old man decided to sell his land. The boys claim that their father should have divided the land amongst them instead of selling it off.
After the murder, the two boys called up their brother Micheal Mugisha informing him about their father's death.
The circumstances under which old man died sparked off bitterness among the residents who lynched one of the suspects.
Police was quickly called leading to the arrest of the old man's children. Those detained are Jackline Mirembe, Allen Korugyendo, Damuli Kamariza Micheal Mugisha and Abraham Rutesherekwa. One of the siblings is reportedly on the run.
Deo Obongo, the criminal investigations officer, however says Mugisha has been arrested for failing to report the death of her father. His four siblings have been placed under police custody for fear of being lynched by the residents.
He says the four siblings will help police with the investigations.
