Passing the judgment, Ssebugwao said the ruling will act as a deterrent to young men who join the army with ill intentions.
The ruling marks the end of the road for 23-year-old Ogwang a cadet officer who joined the army in February 2009.
During the trial, court heard that Ogwang escaped from his unit in Amudat with a gun to come and rob a shop in Mbale town. He had only spent three months in the army after finishing his course in Kabamba Military School.
It was also discovered that the twenty three-year-old had deserted the prison service before joining the army in Gulu.
His lawyer had pleaded for clemency on grounds that he was a first time offender but was turned down by the court-martial.
The convict was whisked away from Mbale Municipal Chambers where the ruling was made by heavily armed soldiers and policemen to unknown destination.
