A 17-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with murdering his village mate.
Godfrey Turyakira, of Nyamitoma Village in Kyegegwa district died on Wednesday last week, after the accused boy who cannot be named for legal reasons hit him on the head with a piece of dry wood.
Appearing before the grade two magistrates court in Fort-Portal, the accused admitted to the murder, but said that it was not intentional.
The accused explained that he hit his friend on the head, after his failed attempt to retrieve a sim card he had borrowed him. He said that he acted out of anger.
Sounding remorseful before a fully packed court, the accused knelt down, cried and pleaded for mercy.
Eddie Rwagga, the grade two magistrates sent him on remand at Kitumba Remand home in Fort-Portal.
The accused re-appears in court on July 7th.
