Suspect Commits Suicide Inside Police Cells

A 19-year-old boy arrested for alleged defilement has committed suicide in a cell at Masindi central police station.


Vincent Simiyu, was found dead this morning, six days after he was arrested for defiling a minor.


His body was found hanging lose on a piece of cloth tied on a shower pipe in the bathroom.


Juma Okungo, the district Police commander, Masindi says that the suspects death was brought to the attention of the police authorities by some suspects who had gone to take a shower in the bathroom.


The DPC says that the suspect used his trouser as a noose to hang himself.


Meanwhile, the suspect's death has sparked off fear among other inmates, but the DPC has asked them to remain calm as they wait for justice.
