4-year-old Girl Dies in House Inferno

News
Fire has gutted a house in Rakai burning a 4-year-old girl to ash.

The deceased has been identified as Catherine Nalugemwa, a daughter to Emmanuel Kikinda of Samula village.

The incident occurred last night when Nalugemwa's parents were away in the neighborhood.

Kikinda says that he stepped out of his house at around 9:00pm and left on a lantern.

He says that minutes after he heard noise that his house was on fire.

Kikinda says that by the time he arrived at the scene the entire house was being consumed by fire and they could only do little to save Nalugemwa.

Nalugemwa's mother Sylvia Nalubowa accuses their neighbour Kotilda Nalwoga for setting her house on fire.

She claimed that Nalwoga had earlier in the day threatened her with death.

As a result angry residents stormed Nalwoga's house and knocked part of her house, before police dispersed them.

Noah Selunjogi, the Southern Region Police spokesman says that they have arrested Nalwoga for protective custody.

He says that they have also deployed policemen at Nalwoga's home to protect it from being destroyed by angry resident who suspect her of burning Kikinda's house.
