An army veteran in Fort-Portal has been arrested for attempted murder.
Magezi Ramathan, a resident of Kagote West Division in Fort-Portal Municipality was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly tried to murder Herbert Magezi of Nyamuseke Kiyombya parish in Buheesi sub county Kabarole district.
Ramathan had earlier stayed with his Aunt in Bukwali village, but on Saturday night, he grabbed a panga and attacked Herbert chopping off his right leg and hand.
He later went to sleep in his house and left Magezi Herbet lying in a pool of blood in the compound.
Eddy Tinka, the councilor Bukwali ward, discovered Herbert who had come to see his girl friend and informed the area chairman LC3 East division leading to Ramathan's arrest.
On interrogation, Magezi Ramathan admitted that he was determined to kill Herbert who he accused of disturbing the peace of his family.
He also claimed that the woman who Herbert had come to see was his wife.
Meanwhile Herbert Magezi was rushed and admitted at Fort Portal referral hospital in critical condition.
Joseph Ssentamu Bitali, the fort-portal criminal Investigations Officer, says Magezi will be produced to court to answer charges of attempted murder.
