Police Blocks Soroti Muslim Demo

News
Police have warned to crash a demonstration organized by Muslims in Soroti to protest the arrest of several Muslims on allegations of terror.

On Wednesday, Abdul Karim, chairman of Masjid Noor announced plans by Muslims to stage a demonstration this Friday protesting the alleged persecution of members of their community.

The allegations stems from the arrest of 23 Muslims in Soroti town following the twin bomb blasts in Kampala.

But the Soroti District Police commander [DPC] Onesmus Mwesigwa says that the planned demonstration will not take place.

Mwesigye says that the demonstration is illegal because its organizers have not informed the police.
He says those who defy the police directive to stage the demonstration will be arrested and charged in court.

Cue out "...............We shall move in"//

But Karim, who is coordinating the demonstration, will not have any of this. Karim says that they are ready to risk their lives to protest police harassment.

//Cue in "Am coordinating...............
Cue out "..............Anything to answer//

Karim insists that the Muslims who were arrested in Soroti are innocent and should set free to return to their families.
