Moses Tugume, the aspiring FDC candidate for Masindi Municipality parliamentary seat is accusing his political rivals of plotting his downfall.
Last evening, police impounded Tugume's vehicle on allegations that it was involved in a motor accident.
According to Asaba Jaiden, the driver of Tugume he was intercepted by Police claiming that his car was involved in an accident at Kimengo.
Asaba says that he told police that there is no way the car could have been involved in an accident because he had not been to Kamengo through out the day.
He says that later he was told by police that he was wanted for illegal gun possession.

Asaba Jaiden says that police broke into his car and drove it to police without his consent.
Officials from Rapid Response Unit searched the car, including in its engine and underneath, but found nothing.
Tinka Zarugaba, the Masindi police officer in charge of crime says the car was searched on suspicion of possessing a fire arm.
He says much as no fire arm was found in the car, investigations continue. He refuses to divulge the source of information.
Speaking on phone from Kampala, Tugume accuses his rivals of plotting to have him arrested on trumped up charges because of his growing political strength.
The incident has caused panic amongst FDC supporters in Masindi town.
