Soroti NRM Office Besieged

Politics
The NRM party office in Soroti has been cordoned off by police after a group of rowdy party supporters stormed it demanding for the release of the election results.

The angry supporters stormed the NRM offices contesting the declaration of one Fede Julian Iseet, as an NRM party flag bearer for the Soroti woman MP.

On Tuesday Evening, NRM electoral commission announced Iseet as the winner in favor of Adyango Rachael, whom the supporters believed had won.

The supporters from Asuret Sub County argued that the results were interchanged in favor of Iseet, because Rose Agayo polled 900 votes against Iseet's 100 votes.

NRM returning officer Richard Esegu vanished from his office for some time as irate supporters threatened to lynch him but returned later to hand the papers to the Police.

More than 30 police officers including the Soroti DPC Onesimus Mwesiga, and the mid eastern Spokesman, Juma Hassan Nyene, commanded by the regional police commander mid eastern, cordoned off the offices before taken away results tally sheets.

Agaba said they were taken the results for safe custody until the complaints are sorted out by the NRM electoral commission.
