Kotido Magistrate Flees With Ballot Box

News
Teko Lokeris, the Kotido grade one magistrate, is in trouble for his alleged involvement in electoral mal-practice.

Teko is accused of confiscating and running away with a ballot box, during the just concluded Chekwi County National Resistance Movement party primaries in Nakapiripirit.

The magistrate, who is a son to Peter Lokeris, the Minister of State for Energy is alleged to have picked and run away with a ballot box from a polling station in Namalu Sub-county.

His father Lokeris was beaten from Namalu polling station.

He was for more than four hours arrested and detained by the UPDF Soldiers.

George Obiya, the northeastern police spokesperson, says the magistrate is being investigated by the police for electoral fraud.

Obiya says the magistrate is likely to be charged with electoral fraud. He explains that only presiding officers are allowed to tally results of an election.

Partial results, from Chekwi County, indicate Minister Lokeris is trailing behind his opponent Rose Nachat.
