President Museveni has outlined priority areas for his next tenure in office.
Delivering a keynote address at the opening of the NRM party national delegates conference at Namboole stadium, Museveni cited Health, Education, and Infrastructure development as his priority areas.
President Museveni says that if re-elected, his next development strategy will focus mainly on rural electrification, improvement of the existing road infrastructure and improvement of the railway network.
He said that the capacity of the UPDF's engineering department would be strengthened to enable it participate in the improvement of the railway network.
Another priority for the president is Education.
The president noted that the current education programme has been flouted by lack of inspection. He says that in the next five years, inspection in government schools will be stepped up to ensure effective implementation of the government programmes.
He also noted that staff house will be constructed for schoolteachers and health workers in all government schools and hospitals.
The health of women has also been cited as a key priority area for the president. The president says that under the health strategy for women, all women will be able to access early cervical cancer screening and detection.
The president also said that doctors would also be required to prescribe drugs that control over bleeding during childbirth.
