Five people have this morning been killed in a tragic road accident that occurred at Kayanja, along the Mbarara Bushenyi road.
The 10:00 am accident occurred shortly after a boda boda cyclist made a swift turn and entered the road in a rush to pick a passenger.
A speeding Ipsum vehicle heading to Kabale hit the cyclist, lost control and collided head on with a pick up truck, which was transporting a dead body from Mbarara to Bwizibwera.
The boda boda cyclist identified as Kakiga bosco died on the spot.
Also dead are three people that were aboard the pick up truck. They have been identified as the driver of the pick up truck, a woman believed to be wife of the deceased man, and her daughter.
Vincent Ssekkatte, the deputy police spokesperson, says the fourth occupant of the pick up truck is admitted at the hospital but in critical condition.
Also dead is a man identified only as Haji Karale of Rutooma in Kashari.
