Embattled Iganga DPC Suspended from Office

Gaudencio Okumu, the embattled Iganga District Police Commander has been suspended from office.

Okumu who is facing charges of theft was suspended by Christopher Kubayi, the Southern region Police Commander.

According to Kubayi he decided to suspend Okumu awaiting the decision of Kale Kayihura, Inspector General of Police.

In August, Kubayi and 18 other junior officers were arrested and charged in the Iganga chief magistrate court for the theft of merchandise worth shillings 150 million.

It is alleged that Okumu and his juniors looted the merchandise from a truck that was involved in an accident along Iganga-Mbale highway.
