Kyabenda SS Student Pleads Guilty for Masterminding Strike

Muzamiru Byaruhanga, a student of Kyabenda secondary school in Kamwenge has been remanded to prison for masterminding a strike at his school.

Byaruhanga appeared today before John Kategaya, Kamwenge grade one magistrate.


Prosecution told court that on July 21, 2010 Byaruhanga mobilised other students at Kyabenda secondary school to stage a violent strike in which school property worth millions of shillings was destroyed.


He was personally accused for smashing the glasses of the girl's dormitory, staff quarters and headmaster's office.


Byaruhanga pleaded guilty to the charges and was sent remanded to Kamwenge prison, until October 5 to allow his parents negotiate with the school administration.
