Pork Business Lands Muslim in Trouble

Agriculture
A Muslim man in Iganga survived death by lynching on Monday; after he was caught red-handed selling roasted pork.

Siraji Samanya, was attacked by a group of Muslims at Nkatu Zone in Iganga town who caught him red handed holding a plate of roasted pork. They demanded to know why he was a disgrace to the Muslim faith.

The mob claimed that Samanya was warned against engaging in pork business, which Muslims consider unclean.

Samanya however admitted that with no job opportunities available to him, the pork business has been his major source of income.

But his explanation fell on deaf ears as the Muslims now raging with anger demanded for his head.

Mwamad Byansi, a brother to Samanya, accompanied by group of Moslems raided Siragi's pork joint, flogged him and even poured down the pork, which he was frying in the sauce pan.

He was then carried to Kasokoso zone, where hiis father works and beaten again. The father threatened to disown him.

It however took the intervention of Sebide Ayub, the LC 1 chairperson to calm the sitiuation.

Ayub advised the family to sort out their disagreements at clan level or hand him over to police rather than create a scene in town.
