Wamanga was declared elected party flag bearer on Tuesday evening by Nasuru Mabanja, the FDC Electoral Commission returning officer of Mbale Municipality.

The legislator polled 138 votes beating his soul rival, Justine Mayumbe Busiima who polled only 3 votes. In other elections, Mutwalibu Zandya Mafabi was also declared elected FDC flag bearer for Mbale Municipality Mayoral seat after defeating his rival Moses Kisolo.

Zandya polled 120 votes, while his rival Moses Kisolo managed 102 votes. However, the election of Zandya was announced under tight police security following threats by Kisolo's supporters to disrupt the polls.

Kisolo has not yet officially conceded defeat. Our reporter could not reach him as his phone was switched off. According to Nasur the elections were free and fair.
