Unknown assailants have murdered Gertrude Nakacwa, a senior mobilizer of the National Resistance Movement in Lwengo district. The 75-year-old Nakacwa was killed on Tuesday afternoon by her assailant at her home in Kibaale Village in Kisekka Sub County.
Esther Nansera, the grandchild to the deceased says that two men came to their home looking for Nakacwa. Nansera says that she directed the two men to where her grandmother was but minutes after she heard her cry for help.
Nansera says that when she rushed to see what had happened to her grandmother, she found her unconscious lying in a pool of blood with a deep cut on her neck. She says that the deceased lost a lot of blood until she passed away.
According to Nansera says that her grandmother had previously survived an acid attack and an attempt to set her house a blaze by unknown people. Patrick Bamanyido, Masaka District Criminal Investigations Officer says that the deceased was hit by a sharp object in the neck.
Bamanyindo says that police has started investigating the murder to try and apprehend the suspects. He says that police has carried out a postmortem and handed over Nakacwa's body to her relatives for burial.
