Two Civilians Killed By UPDF in Central African Republic

News
A UPDF soldier has shot dead a civilian and injured another in Central African Republic.

Sgt William Enau of 15Bn attached to Obo, in Central African Republic on Monday shot dead Abel Gagbiaka in Obo trading center after a misunderstanding.

The soldier also shot and injured the father of the deceased identified as Gabriel Zanga. Felix Kulaigye the Army Spokesperson says the incident happened during morning hours after an undisclosed disagreement.

Kulaigye says the army airlifted the father of the deceased who was also injured in the shooting to Nzara military field hospital where he is being treated for bullet wounds that he sustained in the stomach.

Kulaigye says the soldier attempted to escape after the shooting but was arrested and is to be tried in a field military court-martial.

Monday's killing follows another death of a civilian who was killed two weeks ago by a UPDF soldier in Nzara in Central African Republic.

Kulaigye however says the pending trial of the suspects in a field military court martial indicates the army does not cordon indiscipline in it's ranks.
