Mysterious fire Destroys 30 Houses in Kapchorwa

News
Kapchemoi village, in Kapkelet sub-county Kapchorwa district is a sight of a massive fire that has destroyed up to 30 houses.

Police are investigating the source of the fire that targeted families belonging to the Kapchemoi clan. More than 200 families are homeless.

Diana Nandawula, the Eastern region police spokesperson, says the mysterious fire has sparked off unrest as people start deserting their houses for fear of being trapped in a mysterious fire.

Many people have pitched camp at Otuban cooperative hall, in Otuban village, while several others are spending their nights in the cold for lack of shelter.

Some people have found solace in their banana plantations, which they use, as their home.

Police is equally puzzled about the cause of the fire, which begins from the rooftops before spreading to gut the entire house.

The police spokesperson, says that police was left confused as they watched two houses burn down with no clue to what could be setting off the fires.

She says that the fire, which started on Oct 22, has continued to burn people's houses under unclear circumstances.

The Kapchemoi clan members have convened a crisis meeting, to establish the cause of the fire that has so far remained a puzzle for the police.

But local Residents have blamed a witch doctor for their plight.

Many distressed people admit that this is the first time they are witnessing a massive fire destroy everything they have worked for in the last years.
