Betty Nam, the interim LC5 chairperson of Kole district, has been disqualified from nomination due to lack of adequate academic papers.
Nam was due for nomination today, as a candidate for the NRM party. however she was replaced by Adongo Susan Odongo after it emerged she did not have adequate academic qualification.
The Electoral Commission requires that one must posses a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education as a minimum qualification to be nominated as a candidate for the position of LC5 chairperson.
Benjamin Ewal, the district returning officer, told URN that only four candidates were nominated today excluding Nam. He declined to comment on the disqualification of Nam.
When contacted, Nam declined to comment on her disqualification, but said the NRM party leadership would consider her for appointment to another position.
The nominated candidates are; Adongo Susan Odongo for NRM party, Peter Ocen for UPC, Ben Olwa of FDC and Ogwal Smart Lameck who is contesting as an independent candidate. Kole district as recently curved out of Apac.
