Incumbent Kyoga County MP to Contest Against Son

Election
Yubu Okello, son of Kyoga county Member of Parliament has been nominated as one of the candidates seeking election to the same position.

His nomination this morning marked the official beginning of his attempt to wrestle the MP seat from his father, Bileo Ojok who is seeking re election as an official candidate of the Forum for Democratic Change party.


Okello who is the official candidate of Uganda Federal Alliance, says that he will campaign on the premise of devolution of power to the people. He said presently people do not possess power to make decisions on issues that affect them.


He also faulted his father for allegedly failing to provide the voters wit income generating activities to help boost their incomes. He said h is only awaiting the official campaign program to begin challenging his father, who is set to be nominated tomorrow.


Bileo has previously dismissed his son's threats to take over his seat, saying he would not take it seriously until nominations are conducted.


The two family members will face challenges from other candidates including former UDPF soldier, Lt Francis Ongia who is standing as an independent candidate; Anthony Okello for the NRM party and Nelson Chong, a UPC party candidate.


Luis Mukibi, the electoral commission registrar says that the nominations will continue through tomorrow. Kyoga constituency previously under Lira district was elevated to district status in 2006.
