A 6-year-old girl in Kiboga has drowned in a pond at Kyato village. The deceased has been identified as Namugumya Kirabo, a daughter to Edward Kuteesa. Kirabo drowned this morning when her parents were away in the garden.
Godfrey Emajongo, Kiboga District Criminal Investigations Officer says that Kirabo left her home with other children to go and fetch water from the pond. He says that on reaching the pond Kirabo who was carrying a small jerican slid and drowned. He says that other child who was also about Kirabo's age mate could not help her but shouted for help.
Emajongo says that residents arrived a little too late to save Kirabo because she was already dead.
Yiga Manini, who was the first person to rush to the pond, says that by the time he got there the body of Kirabo had already been submerged in water. Manini says that he used a long stick to search for the body of the deceased under the water
Edward Kutesa, the father to Kirabo says that they left Kirabo under the care of their neighbour while going to the garden because she was not feeling well. Kutesa says that he and members of his family where devastated when they received a call from some residents that Kirabo had drowned to death. Emajongo, says that police has released Kirabo's body to her family for burial.
