Ten people from the same family are fighting for their life at Jinja Referral Hospital after eating suspected poisoned food. Some of the victims are Jennifer Naigaga and her children Ataliba Gonza, Veronica Kayega and Claire Musubika, all residents of Ivunumba village in Budondo Sub County.
Gonza Kafumbe, the head of the family says that he survived the food poisoning with his two sons because they were not at home when the food was served.
According to Kafumbe, his wife Naigaga left home on Saturday and went to attend a memorial prayer of her late father and returned with some cooked food.
He explains that when Naigaga returned home she found her children taking tea and served them the food she her carried from the memorial function. Kafumbe says that the children went to bed and woke up on Sunday without any problem.
He says that in the afternoon, one of the children started feeling dizzy, a painful tummy and vomiting. Kafumbe explains that child also started developing diarrhea forcing them to rush him to hospital.
Kafumbe says minutes after other members of his family who also ate the same food started experiencing the same complications. He says that after receiving treatment the victims have started recuperating.
