Five Electoral Cases Come Under Scrutiny in Kamwenge

Politics
Police in Kamwenge are investigating five electoral related offences.

Police will specifically handle three major cases.

The first case involves interference of election rallies by rival candidates and political parties, the second revolves around the use of government property to canvass political support while the third case relates to the use of abusive language during election campaigns.

John Tabaruka, The officer in charge of election and political violence, told journalist in Kamwenge, that the cases were committed in Kitagwenda and Kibale counties.

Tabaruka however says that efforts to resolve the cases have so far been thwarted by the lack of cooperation from the aggrieved parties.

He explains that it has been so difficult to even get statements from witnesses.

On Tuesday, Valley Kanzira, the district returning officer assured the public that his office is working with the police to control any encumbrances during the election campaign.
