Police in Tororo District with the help of their Kenyan counterparts have recovered three stolen Ugandan cars from Kenya.
Joseph Mwesigye, the Officer in-charge of Malaba Police, commandeered the operation. He says two cars were last Friday recovered in Kitale town, 150km, deep inside Kenya, while the third car was recovered in Malaba border last month.
Mwesigye says the police were tracking a special hire car, which was stolen from Tororo town in November last year, when they bumped in to another stolen car in Kitale.
He says the Toyota Corola registration number UAH 302 L, belonging to Charles Okongo, of Tororo town was recovered pinned with a Kenyan number plate KAR 284 H.
Okongo's car was robbed by suspected robbers, who prior to the robbery, killed the driver identified as Livingstone Owori, and dumped his body in river Malaba swamps along Tororo- Busia Murram road.
