Robbers Ambush Bus in Kabarole

Two buses have fallen victims of robbery on Kasese Fort Portal road, Four days after a late night travel Kalita bus was robbed in Mubende.


The two buses all belonging to Kalita Bus Company were robbed last night, at 2:00am.


The incident occurred at Buheesi trading center in Buheesi Sub County, along the Fort Portal –Kasese road.


Joseph Kihamba, the District Police Commander says one bus was coming from Kampala to Kasese, while the second was heading to Kampala from Kasese.


Kihamba says that the armed robbers staged a roadblock and put the passengers at gunpoint. The robbers beat and tortured the passengers.


Kihamba says that the passengers were robbed of their money, phones and their luggage.


Kihamba says a lorry traveling from Kampala to Kasese was also robbed. The driver of the lorry not yet identified was cut with a panga and seriously injured on the arm.


Gad Tibesigwa, the OC Kibiito police post, says the fourth vehicle is a Corona vehicle Reg.Number UAN 912K was robbed. The occupants who included Orwen Lam the driver, Geriya Kenneth and Dickson Biribyese were robbed of their laptops, money and other valuables.


Tibesigwa says the victims are engineers who were travelling from Kampala to Kasese for duty. Orwen the driver says there are working with Associated Design Building ADB Ltd in Kasese.


Kihamba says the robbers disappeared towards Buheesi -Kabahango road.
